Project overview
For the Madinah Region Development Authority, TMSI designed, manufactured and installed more than 50 PVC umbrellas that shade the plaza of the Qiblatain Mosque and Cultural Center in Madinah. The work was completed in 2025.
The photos follow the project from start to finish. The green geometric pattern of each umbrella was developed in CAD and reproduced on the PVC membrane, the steel columns were fabricated in TMSI's Dammam factory, and the finished umbrellas were installed on site in front of the mosque. The umbrellas also carry mist fans to cool the plaza; the fans were supplied by another contractor.
According to the Madinah Region Development Authority, the Qiblatain Mosque and Cultural Center covers more than 265,000 m² and receives more than 20,000 worshippers. The project was covered by the authority itself and by the Saudi press — see the sources below.
