Project overview
TMSI's work on the Makkah train stations covers approximately 65,000 m² of PTFE membrane across nine stations, delivered for MRDA, SAR and CRCC. The exterior projects listing describes the scope as maintenance of the nine stations, and the project is dated 2023.
PTFE-coated glass-fibre membrane is specified for transit and landmark infrastructure because it is built to last for decades with minimal maintenance. The fabric is translucent, so it shades platforms and concourses while still admitting diffused daylight, and it is well suited to sustained sun and heat.
TMSI's in-house team covers the full cycle of tensile membrane work — design, engineering, manufacturing in the Dammam factory, installation and maintenance — which allows membrane panels to be prepared in the factory before the team arrives on site.
