Project overview

At Jeddah Airport, TMSI delivered tensile membrane structures for Saudi Airlines covering a total area of more than 10,000 m². The project uses PVDF-coated fabric and is one of the larger references in TMSI's project list.

PVDF-coated fabrics combine long-term UV resistance with architectural flexibility. The PVDF top coat helps the membrane resist dirt pick-up and weathering, which matters on a large, highly visible installation in Jeddah's hot, humid coastal climate. Tensioned fabric can span wide areas with relatively light steelwork, which suits shading of large open areas.

TMSI's in-house team works across design, engineering, manufacturing in the Dammam factory and installation, with fabric patterns cut and joined in the factory before delivery to site. Every TMSI tensile design goes through form finding and finite element analysis, and the resulting load calculations set the size of the foundations and steelwork and the pre-stress of the fabric.
