Project overview
At Shiraa Mall in Dammam, TMSI installed a PVDF tensile membrane structure with a total area of 1,140 m². The project dates from 2020.
PVDF-coated fabric is widely used on commercial buildings because it combines long-term UV resistance with architectural flexibility: the membrane can be patterned into curved, expressive forms, and the PVDF top coat helps it resist dirt pick-up and keep its colour in the Eastern Province sun.
Being based in Dammam, TMSI handles design, engineering, manufacturing and installation from its own factory in the city, with fabric patterns cut and joined in the factory before delivery to site. Every TMSI tensile design goes through form finding and finite element analysis, and the resulting load calculations set the size of the foundations and steelwork and the pre-stress of the fabric.
